Here is our very own British Caribbean – the islands that inspired the painter John Miller. The Isles of Scilly are 28 miles off Lands End and on a good day are comparable to any tropical paradise in the world. This is a view of the Eastern Isles from Tresco. We won’t talk about what it looks like on a bad day! But even then it is in my top 5 favourite places in the world: see the Isles of Scilly tag for some other photographs of this beautiful and isolated place.
It is very easy to take good photos in that special Cornish light! It’s what inspired Miller too – in the same way that so many painters were inspired by Brittany’s equivalent far-western edge. I have hundreds of photos of both places!
